The best place to get your sweet bread and cookies for family gathering or occasions. She also makes the tamales and they are so good! Been going there for so many years. I've tried others but I keep returning to her.
Experienced this place in January 2017 while at the national beekeepers convention. OMGoodness! Great cookies, fried pies, etc. Makes my mouth water just thinking about it. They also make tamales! Very addicting. Need I say more...
Has the BEST donuts around....and we've been buying her wonderful "made daily" mini bread loafs for probably 17 years. They are so good with cheese or soups!! Christine is a super nice lady and great to talk to. Yes, the bar-b-que place is right next to them but they have their own parking on the side street right next to them.

I shop here every time I come to Galveston. The capirotada (sp?) Bread pudding is heaven in your hand. I don't like all the complaints about rudeness. I've had nice conversations with the owner. Some people are cranky.
She is super sweet and the best tamales I've ever tasted. I drive from lamarque to get them yes they are pricey but worth it for sure.
The banana cream, coconut cream, chocolate and apple pies, baked to order are absolutely fabulous. The lady that I placed my order with was so kind and helpful. The order was ready on time. The smell of the freshly cooking tamales was magnificent. A must visit.
Best tamales I’ve found on the island. I’m sure the bakery items are very good but I don’t particularly care for Mexican pastries. I’ve tried many over the years from numerous cities. (Where’s the sugar??) Beautiful to look at while you’re waiting for your tamales though. Regular or spicy, you can’t go wrong!
One day I decided to stop at Star bakery on Broadway in Galveston for some tamales they was very huge amount of meat in them the favor was also good I got the spicy one .I was a little upset to hear they will be closing down soon she will be selling all her properties .
Very good tamales and baked goods. We will come again, only earlier! We appreciate the owner taking the time to talk to us. She was busy but still made time.
